The first activity of the new year was "Introducing Japanese Culture" at "Rice-cake Making Festival" of Sapporo University.
As international students and neighbors were making rice cake,
students whipped a top (koma), played kendama and yo-yo,
played sugoroku (board game),
played karuta (Japanese cards),
experienced the tea ceremony.
Today's higashi (dry sweets with tea) were Fukuju-so (Adonis ramose) and a bell.
Students enjoyed Japanese traditional toys and the tea ceremony while studying Japanese language.
