We held “Enjoy Cherry Blossoms Together ~Ohanami~” on May 9th. 17 participants from 6 countries and 14 volunteers separated into 3 groups and walked around Maruyama area. During the tour, the volunteers explained the species of cherry trees, the roof of the Shrine building, Yoshitake Shima (a person who took an important role to plan the city of Sapporo) and so on.
ソメイヨシノやエゾヤマザクラは葉桜で、梅の花も終わっていましたが、八重桜や花壇の花はきれいに咲いていました。
Almost petals of Somei-yoshino and Ezo-yama-zakura had fallen from the trees and plum trees had sprouted young leaves, but Yae-zakura and flowers in plant beds had bloomed beautifully.
途中で抹茶の団子を食べながら休憩をしました。最初のグループは、花壇の近くで休憩をしました。
In the middle of the walking, we had a break and ate matcha dumplings. The first group enjoyed the break near flowerbeds.
他のグループは、八重桜の下で休憩をしました。
The other groups had a break under Yae-zakura blossoms.
最後は住宅街の八重桜を見て、約2時間のツアーを終えました。参加者の皆さんは、市民ボランティアとのお花見をとても楽しんでくださったようです。
At last, we enjoyed Yae-zakura in a residencial area and finished the two-hour tour. We believe that the participants enjoyed the ohanami with the citizen volunteers a lot.
