This garden opened in 1986. The most remarkable feature of here is that many of the artists had actually visited before starting work on the sculptures so as to match their works to the environment in which they would be exhibited. The artists also took into account the geological landscape, surrounding atmosphere, and climate of Sapporo. So we can enjoy not only the sculptures themselves, but also the collaboration between the art and the natural elements, such as trees, sunlight, wind, snow and hills. Collaboration of snow and sculptures were extremely beautiful under the blue sky.
